Australian Premium Macadamias: A New Standard in Quality and Innovation
In the heart of Bundaberg, a quiet revolution is taking place in macadamia production. Australian Premium Macadamias (APM), established in 2023 by a collective of forward-thinking growers, is redefining what it means to produce high-quality, sustainable macadamias—setting a new benchmark for the industry.
Rooted in a clear philosophy—if it’s labelled premium, it’s premium inside the box—APM is more than a brand. It’s a symbol of Australian agricultural excellence and pride.
Built by Growers, for Growers
Formed during a period of market uncertainty, APM is a product of grower resilience and vision. In response to fluctuating prices and limited storage capacity, particularly across the Wide Bay region, the company was established to provide not just processing capability, but security and opportunity for growers.
A new, state-of-the-art facility is under construction in Bucca, with capacity projected to reach 20,000 metric tonnes by 2026. This facility will manage the entire processing chain—from procuring and curing to cracking, packaging, and marketing—ensuring quality control every step of the way.

A Grower-Centric Model
At the core of APM’s success is its lean, adaptable supply chain—designed with growers in mind. By focusing on strategic logistics and processing efficiency, APM ensures growers receive maximum returns.
Their exclusive curing systems and gentle cracking methods maintain the integrity and value of each nut. Every kernel is treated with care, ensuring it arrives at market in peak condition. This meticulous approach supports not just profit, but the long-term sustainability of every grower involved.
What Does ‘Premium’ Really Mean?
For APM, ‘premium’ isn’t just a label—it’s a measurable, consistent outcome. Quality starts at the orchard, with optimal growing conditions, skilled management, and sustainability-focused practices.
Post-harvest, APM applies cutting-edge drying and storage technologies to preserve taste, texture, and nutritional value. The result? A final product that’s not only safe and delicious but delivers a truly premium experience.
A Commitment to Sustainability
Sustainability is a guiding principle at APM. Their farming methods are carefully designed to protect the environment and preserve the unique ecosystems of the Bundaberg region.
Expanding Into the Global Market
APM has its sights set beyond Australian borders. With rising demand for Australian-grown macadamias—particularly across Asia—APM is ideally positioned to deliver.
The development of a retail brand is underway, supporting both wholesale and consumer-facing growth in the year ahead.
Looking Forward: A Transformational Year Ahead
The next 12 months will be pivotal for APM. The Bucca facility build is a key milestone, unlocking expanded processing capabilities and enabling new market opportunities. With a clear growth strategy and strong alignment with grower interests, APM is positioned to make a lasting impact on both domestic and international stages.
Final Thoughts
APM’s story is one of resilience, innovation, and a deep respect for the land. As we align our work at Macadamia Farm Management with APM’s bold vision, we’re proud to support and be part of a movement that’s setting a new standard in macadamia farming.

Vortex Hydroseeder Operator Training
Supporting Orchard Development, Rehabilitation and Erosion Control Hydroseeding plays an important role in orchard development, land rehabilitation and erosion control. Following earthworks, drainage construction or infrastructure installation, exposed soils require rapid stabilisation to minimise erosion, suppress dust and encourage the establishment of healthy vegetation. To support these activities, the PAR Orchard Group has invested in…
From the Ground Up: The MFM Harvester Story
From the workshop floor to the orchard rows. 🚜🔧 At MFM, harvest doesn’t begin when the machines enter the orchard. It starts long before that in our Welcome Creek Workshop, where our team designs, fabricates and continually refines equipment specifically for macadamia orchards. This latest harvester is the result of years of practical harvest experience,…
Shaking Up Harvest: How Tree Shakers Are Changing Macadamia Farming
At Macadamia Farm Management, innovation and efficiency go hand in hand. One of the most striking examples in recent years has been the use of tree shakers — a technology that is changing how we approach harvest. Why Shaking Matters Macadamia nuts don’t always fall easily. Certain varieties, such as A16 and Daddow, are especially…
Macadamia Orchard Growth Benchmarks: Tree Volume and Canopy Area Explained
Tracking how macadamia orchards grow provides an important reference point for orchard performance. While every farm is different, industry research and grower experience give us clear benchmarks for both tree volume and canopy area. These measures help put Aerobotics data into context and show whether orchards are establishing strongly, ahead of schedule, or in need…
The Combinator – Recycling Organic Matter on the Orchard Floor
Soil health is central to macadamia productivity, and there’s more than one way to build it. Alongside imported compost and mulch, we also return organic matter already produced in the orchard itself. The Combinator is one of the key tools that makes this possible. What the Combinator Does After harvest, macadamia orchards generate a valuable…
Soil Moisture
Understanding soil moisture is key to making confident, data-backed irrigation decisions—and Emily Dart is here to help you get it right. In this hands-on workshop, Emily walks through MFM’s five-stage soil moisture scale and shows how to assess both topsoil and subsoil moisture using a simple auger or spade method. With different soil types across…
Freshcare: Supporting MFM’s Commitment to Quality and Compliance
MFM utilises Freshcare, Australia’s leading on-farm assurance program for fresh produce, to ensure that every farm under our management meets the highest standards of food safety, sustainability, and market compliance. Pruning Macadamia Orchards with the Afron Pruner
Pruning is a critical aspect of macadamia orchard management, helping to maintain tree structure, optimise yields, and improve harvesting efficiency. As orchards mature, tree canopies can become dense, restricting light penetration and airflow, which can impact nut production and tree health. To address these challenges, Macadamia Farm Management (MFM) ensures orchards receive expert pruning through…
Transport
Skip bins play a vital role in macadamia harvesting, providing an efficient way to transport nuts from orchard to processing. However, proper management is essential to maintaining nut quality and ensuring a smooth harvesting operation. MFM has been investing in improved bin designs, including aerated models, to further enhance nut preservation during transport. Design by…
