Future talent in the workshop: Archie & Edward on work experience 👨‍🏭🌱

We recently welcomed two work-experience students from Shalom College — Archie Preusker and Edward Rayner — into the Welcome Creek workshop, and they made the most of every opportunity.

Archie and Edward rolled up their sleeves, listened carefully, and got involved in real workshop jobs. Our team guided them through safe tool use, basic fabrication tasks and equipment checks, explaining why we slow down at key moments and how teamwork keeps everyone safe.

The Welcome Creek workshop maintains MFM’s equipment and supports major projects — and it also operates as a learning environment. Our crew mentored the boys, answered questions, and showed how pride in workmanship shapes every job we do.

What stood out most was their attitude. They stayed curious, asked thoughtful questions, and showed genuine interest in fabrication and agriculture. Experiences like this help young people see what’s possible — and they help us connect with the next generation of skilled people our industry will rely on.

We’re proud of how Archie and Edward approached their time with us, and we’re grateful to the workshop team for creating such a positive, safe and supportive experience.

Well done, Archie and Edward — and we hope to see you back in the industry one day.
